Jeremie Frimpong Should Be a Quality Addition to Liverpool

Liverpool will have to deal with the loss of Trent Alexander-Arnold from the next season onwards.

Alexander-Arnold’s relationship with his boyhood club turned somewhat sour and acrimonious, as the Anfield faithful found it difficult to come to terms with the departure of the 26-year-old right-back to Real Madrid.

Conor Bradley, who has been an understudy to Alexander-Arnold, will hope to slowly cement his place in the starting XI.

However, Bradley is only 21 at the moment, and it might take him some time to become a regular starter.

Hence, Liverpool are looking to sign Jeremie Frimpong, the Bayer Leverkusen right-back, before the next season starts. Some other clubs are also in the race to sign the Dutch full-back, but Liverpool are the front-runners.

Jeremie Frimpong Has Been Quite Good for Bayer Leverkusen

Frimpong has spent five seasons at Leverkusen and also won the club’s first-ever Bundesliga title with them last season.

Leverkusen will finish second this season behind Bayern Munich. Frimpong has played in 190 matches for the German club so far and scored 30 goals for them. He has also registered 35 assists for them.

In comparison, Alexander-Arnold has scored only 23 goals in more than 350 matches for Liverpool. However, he has more than 80 assists for the Reds, which is testimony to his exceptional passing and crossing abilities.

Frimpong is an exceptional dead-ball expert and can deliver dangerous corner kicks, too. That makes him a great asset for any team that he plays for.

It will also help Liverpool in a great way if they are able to sign him ultimately.

The Reds Might Get Frimpong at a Very Reasonable Price

Liverpool are likely to get Frimpong at a transfer fee of around 30 million GBP, which can be considered a bargain.

If everything turns out fine, the Dutchman should prove to be a great addition to their squad. Arne Slot will look to attain more glory after having won the Premier League title in his very first season as a manager in England.

He will try to follow that success up with sustained brilliance in domestic football.

With a number of Manchester City stalwarts ageing and getting off their prime, and Arsenal failing to strike gold despite coming close repeatedly, Liverpool will feel that they are the favourites to defend their Premier League crown.

The decision to sign Frimpong is going to be another step in that direction. It remains to be seen if the Dutch full-back is able to add value to the Reds, should he sign for them ultimately.
