Leeds United vs Arsenal: The Gunners’ Win Once Again Highlights Their Outstanding Aerial Prowess

Leeds United vs Arsenal saw the Gunners emerge victorious at Elland Road and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal won 4-0 as Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus all scored for the visitors.

Leeds United vs Arsenal: The Gunners’ Aerial Prowess At The Forefront Again

The Arsenal win in the Leeds United v Arsenal match was solely down to their aerial prowess.

Madueke and Kai Havertz started the match in place of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, respectively.

The English winger had a great role to play in each of the Gunners’ first two goals, and the Arsenal win in the Leeds United vs Arsenal match was pretty much guaranteed in the first half.

The first Arsenal goal resulted from a corner, as Madueke delivered an aerial ball into the Leeds penalty box after the initial delivery was defended by the home side. Zubimendi managed to score with a header to further prove his utility to the side.

The second goal also came from a corner, as Darlow failed to clear the ball properly with a punch, and Madueke scored directly from the corner.

The Gunners kept winning corners repeatedly through the right side of the pitch. Their third goal came from another aerial delivery from the right side, as it was Gyokeres’ turn to oblige.

Madueke kept making runs through the right side, which engaged the Leeds defenders in numbers. As a result, when the cross was played into the box, the home side lacked the players to defend with.

Moreover, Mikel Arteta’s men have now established themselves as a difficult team to defend against from corner-kicks.

The Gunners typically deliver the ball to the near post, which makes it really difficult for the opposition’s goalkeeper to deal with it, as they also crowd the area, which gives them a great chance to score from it.

Arsenal’s upcoming opponents should think of adopting a tactic to stop the Gunners from scoring from set-pieces.

Employing their tallest defender at the near post may work as a tactic, but Arsenal’s set-piece coaches will have many more tricks up their sleeves that they can employ if their initial plan doesn’t work.

Leeds United v Arsenal: The Gunners Still In Pole Position For The Title

After their commanding win in the Leeds United v Arsenal match, the Gunners remain the favourites to win their first league title in over two decades.

Their fantastic ability to score goals from aerial deliveries has been a great contributing factor.

The variety of players they have at their disposal has also helped them. For example, Madueke is probably a better crosser of the ball than Saka and his inclusion in the playing XI allowed the Gunners to score from his crosses.

However, Arteta will know too well that there can be slip-ups still to come, and Arsenal have been outdone by Manchester City many times before.

It remains to be seen whether his team can hold firm this time around, but the Leeds United vs Arsenal game saw another Gunners win and keeps them pointed in the right direction.

After this Arsenal win, the Gunners will face Sunderland and Brentford in their next two Premier League matches, winning both of which should take them that extra step closer to the title.

However, what is extremely important for the upcoming opponents of the Gunners is to defend well against aerial balls played into the box.
