Tense Liverpool 2-2 Draw with Everton Sparks a Crucial February for the Premier League

Liverpool drew 2-2 with Everton in a Premier League match at Goodison Park on Wednesday, February 12.

Everton scored the equaliser in the dying minutes of the match to prevent the Reds from getting three points.

For Liverpool, Mohamed Salah scored yet again to take his tally of goals to 27 for the season.

Arne Slot’s men now have 57 points from 24 matches, which is seven more than Arsenal’s tally.

However, they no longer have a match in hand, which means that the Gunners still have a glimmer of hope of winning the title that has eluded them for two decades.

Everton Benefit from Hard-Fought Draw Against Liverpool

Everton now have 27 points from 24 matches and are in the 15th position in the league table.

The Toffees have been resurgent since the appointment of David Moyes as their manager and have earned 10 points in their last four matches.

Should their good form continue, they will not have to worry about relegation any more.

The draw against their arch-rivals must have given them a lot of satisfaction on Wednesday.

The Reds, meanwhile, will have a feeling that they dropped two points by allowing Olivier Doucoure to score the equalizer.

Their loss against Plymouth Argyle at FA Cup last weekend came as a blow and Slot’s men will want to ensure the Premier League title anyhow.

Liverpool Face a Challenging February Fixture List

Liverpool will take on Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle United in their three remaining Premier League matches this month.

Each of those matches should prove to be considerably tough for the Reds. All three of their next opponents are in a position to stake claim for a top-four or a top-six finish.

The Cityzens, especially, will desperately want to earn three points from their match against Liverpool on February 23.

Pep Guardiola’s men are going through a lean patch, but are still a dangerous enough team to trouble any opposition on a given day.

Still, Kai Havertz’s injury, which should sideline him for the remainder of the season, has come as a body blow to Arsenal, who are the closest to Liverpool.

They were already lacking a proper striker and Havertz’s injury means that they should struggle even more to score goals in their upcoming matches.

In such a scenario, overturning a seven-point lead seems to be a gargantuan task for the Gunners.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal will play in the UEFA Champions League as well, which should make their job even more demanding.

The Premier League title is undoubtedly for Liverpool to lose at the moment.

Their three remaining matches in the Premier League this month will be crucial in determining the fate of their campaign.

Should they be able to earn at least six points from them, it should put them in a commanding position to win the league title.

Slot has proved to be a very demanding manager so far for the Reds. His ability to keep extracting the best from his players will be very important for the remainder of the season.
