After Arne Slot’s sacking, the question that has been reverberating among the Liverpool supporters is as to who is going to be Liverpool’s next manager.
Slot won the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, but barely managed to make his team qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season and finished the campaign just gone without a trophy.
Liverpool’s next manager should be able to deal with the pressure of expectation and should also have an enviable body of work.
Andoni Iraola, who helped Bournemouth qualify for the UEFA Europa League next season, is among the frontrunners to be Liverpool’s next manager; however, Luis Enrique of Paris Saint-Germain should also be there in the mix.
Liverpool’s Next Manager: The Pedigree Of Luis Enrique
Enrique won the UEFA Champions League title for the second successive time with PSG, beating Arsenal in the final on penalties on Saturday, May 30.
Although the match was decided on penalties, PSG once again demonstrated the willingness and ability to attack consistently against a dogged Arsenal defence.
PSG have been the best attacking team in Europe for the last two seasons, and the two European triumphs are fitting rewards for their brand of attractive football.
Enrique has now won three UEFA Champions League titles as a manager, having won his first with FC Barcelona in 2015.
He should now look forward to a new challenge as Liverpool’s next manager, as he has never managed in the Premier League and the opportunity to do so as the Reds boss should be enticing to him.
Enrique made PSG play with a 4-3-3 formation, where the front-three regularly swapped position with each other and the midfield-three set the tone for the moves with their relentless and accurate passing.
Liverpool will need those qualities, as they have also been playing with a 4-3-3 formation primarily for the last decade or so. With the exit of Mohamed Salah, they will need the flexibility and fluidity among their front-three, which Enrique could help them achieve.
Liverpool also has the likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who cost them a fortune, but were largely inconsequential in their debut season at the club. Enrique, with his wealth of experience, could get the best out of them by playing them in appropriate roles.
Iraola has the experience of managing in the Premier League and doing a good job at that, but he has not managed in the UEFA Champions League yet.
He does not have the experience of making his team perform on big European nights, which means that Enrique has a distinct advantage over him for becoming Liverpool’s next manager.

Liverpool’s Next Manager: Will Enrique Leave PSG?
As mentioned already, Enrique has won everything that is there to be won with PSG.
Along with two successive UEFA Champions League titles, the Parisians have also won two consecutive Ligue 1 titles as well.
The French Ligue 1 is not competitive enough for a team of PSG’s caliber and it might prompt Enrique to rethink his future.
Being Liverpool’s next manager will provide him with a fresh and worthy challenge that the 56-year-old might find too difficult to resist as the Reds continue to look for a new manager.
