Marcus Rashford Form: How Can Manchester United Star Regain Goal-Scoring Touch?

The Marcus Rashford form has become a worrying factor for Manchester United at the early stages of their 2026/27 Premier League campaign. The Englishman was particularly sloppy in his side’s recent 1-1 draw against Fulham, missing a few clear-cut chances and having to be substituted, summing up why the Marcus Rashford form isn’t really the best right now.

Rashford was selected by England for their matches in the upcoming UEFA Nations League, but has withdrawn from the squad. That means he might have some rest from football over the next few weeks to recover from whatever is irking him.

But whenever able to achieve full fitness, it’s important for the Marcus Rashford form to improve for the English winger to be a key source in the Red Devils’ attack and help them win more matches consistently going forward.

How Has the Marcus Rashford Form Been Like at the Start of 2026/27 Season?

The Marcus Rashford form at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign isn’t really what it was last season, when the English winger spent time on loan at FC Barcelona and even won the La Liga title with them.

However, the Spanish giants opted against signing him on a permanent basis, and Rashford has been re-integrated into the Manchester United attack and even gotten a new No.9 shirt to mark his new era with the club.

Despite producing a few notable moments in their early matches in the 2026/27 season, the Marcus Rashford form hasn’t been the most convincing at all. The 28-year-old winger has not been able to produce a single goal or assist in their first five matches of the Premier League, out of which their only win came against Ipswich Town (thanks to Bruno Fernandes heroics).

Rashford was not able to get a goal or assist in their shocking Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion, having a clear-cut chance saved. Unless the Marcus Rashford form can get better, it’ll be tough for the Red Devils’ youth graduate to retain his spot in the starting XI for much longer.

How Can Marcus Rashford Improve Himself at Manchester United?

Rashford hasn’t really looked sloppy in all his performances for Manchester United in the 2026/27 season. However, he has lacked that cutting edge in his game to be able to be a thorn in opponents’ side.

The 28-year-old winger is still susceptibly fast on the ball, being able to dart his way past defenders into the promising areas to be able to raise the unpredictability factor in his side’s attack.

What the Englishman must do to improve the Marcus Rashford form is to try and be more decisive in the final third. He cannot take too many touches inside the penalty area or get into two minds on whether to pass to a teammate or go for a shot himself.

Rashford has to be precise with his decision-making in the key danger areas, knowing when to go for opportunities himself to be able to raise his goal-scoring threat or when to make clever passes to set things up for teammates.

Can a Change in Position Help Marcus Rashford?

Fortunately for Rashford, he is actually pretty versatile in being able to play in multiple positions. He can even operate as a right-wing asset for the Red Devils or play more centrally as a striker as well.

What Michael Carrick can possibly do is play the Englishman in a No.9 role as an alternative to Benjamin Sesko.

Rashford has that capability of making clever runs in behind the opposition defensive lines to get the ball in open goal-scoring positions. Playing him more centrally can allow the 28-year-old to get more goal-scoring opportunities in central areas, hence helping raise his chance of scoring more goals to tap into the best Marcus Rashford form.

Extra Time Notes

Marcus Rashford is yet to hit top gear for Manchester United since his return to the club from his Barcelona loan. He has not been able to get a single goal contribution in the 2026/27 Premier League yet, despite showing signs of promise with his overall movement and dribbling ability.

Perhaps the international break can serve as one where Rashford can afford to take a breather to regain his momentum. However, he needs to start making better decisions in front of goal and be more decisive with his finishing to be able to trouble goalkeepers and get to the Marcus Rashford form that can help Manchester United win games regularly going forward.
