Napoli have been confirmed as the champions of Italy after beating Cagliari 2-0 in the final game of the season. Goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku were enough to see off the stubborn visitors.
2 years after breaking their 33-year title drought, Antonio Conte has led Napoli to their second Scudetto in 3 years.
His side was pushed to the very end of the campaign by Inter Milan who also won their game, beating Como 2-0.
The Nerazzurri were just a point behind Partenopei heading into the final game of the season and both teams knew that only a win would secure the title for them.
The title race would have headed to a play-off if both teams had ended the season with the same number of points, regardless of goal difference or head-to-head record.
But after their win, they ensured that they finished one point ahead of Inter Milan, with 82 points from 38 matches (W24, D10, L4), avoiding the need for a rare play-off and becoming the lowest-scoring team to win the Seria A in the 20-team era.
Conte has also led Juventus and Inter Milan in the Seria A to league glory in his first season.
The Italian, known to be a serial winner, has also won a top-flight title with English side Chelsea in his first season.
After losing key players like Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Conte before the 2024/2025 season and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – who left mid-season to PSG, Napoli faced a daunting challenge to maintain the team’s chemistry and Scudetto charge.
In the 2025 winter transfer, the club sanctioned loan moves for AC Milan young forward Noah Okafor, Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing, Luis Hasa from Lecce and Cagliari’s shot stopper Simeone Scuffet, but even with these additions, it was Antonio Conte’s tactical brilliance that kept his squad in check.
