Can Raheem Sterling Reignite His Spark After Chelsea and Arsenal?

Throughout his career, Raheem Sterling has performed well at many clubs up and down the country for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, becoming a consistent name in the England squad.

This form, however, has started to unravel in recent years, and as a result, the winger is looking to leave Chelsea. But who is interested, and where should he go?

Raheem Sterling’s Stats

Sterling spent last season on loan with Arsenal as the Gunners secured Champions League qualification for another season.

Sterling, however, was unable to contribute much to this success and saw his gametime limited, with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli starting ahead of him.

This led to the forward only starting seven games in the Premier League last season out of 17 appearances. Sterling only assisted two goals and scored zero, as he remained largely ineffective on the flanks for the Gunners

The season before with Chelsea, however, Sterling scored a modest eight goals and assisted four, indicating that the player can still be effective.

At the age of 30, the Englishman has some time left to replicate or even better this form as he seeks a new team.

Who Is Interested in Sterling, and Where Should He Go?

According to Talksport, the clubs that are interested in the English winger include Fulham, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Juventus.

Therefore, the player may be encouraged to stay in London, or he may seek a new challenge abroad.

At this current stage, Crystal Palace still have the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Eze. Therefore, Sterling may not receive instant gametime should he join the South London side.

This is similar to West Ham, who may opt for the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville, should Sterling not perform.

Fulham also have options on the wing as well as other transfer targets. However, this move would mean that Sterling does not need to change his property, and he may carry on as normal, making it suitable for him.

However, Juventus have seen wingers depart the club this summer, including Samuel Mbangula and a potential departure in the form of Nico Gonzalez, leaving multiple gaps in the squad that may need to be filled.

Although Juventus have recently played in various formations that do not include wingers, Sterling may relish the challenge of showing his adaptability, as well as providing an alternative option should they deem it suitable.

Leave the Premier League or Remain in London?

There appears to be an air of inevitability that Raheem Sterling will depart Chelsea this summer, as part of a big squad overhaul for the Blues. At this current stage, Fulham and Juventus also appear to be the most viable options for the player.

Sterling’s wage expenditure is currently high. Therefore, the player now has to decide how much he may be willing to adjust his wages and, as a result, the style of challenge that he would next like to undertake.

Whether or not this sees Sterling venture abroad or continue in the Premier League, English fans will hope that Sterling rediscovers the form that made him a household name.
