While Bayern Munich won the league title last month, there are still many remaining Bundesliga decisions that have not yet been decided this season.

We bring you an overview of the remaining Bundesliga decisions yet to be made with two rounds left in the 2025/26 season.

The Remaining Bundesliga Decisions: The Race For The Last UEFA Champions League Qualification Place

Normally, the top four in Germany qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but because the Bundesliga is still fighting for that extra spot in Europe’s greatest club competition, it may be the case that the fifth-place finisher also qualifies in the end.

For this piece, though, we will assume that only the top four will qualify for the UEFA Champions League, because currently, Spain’s La Liga is slightly ahead of the Bundesliga in that club coefficients’ race.

Either way, besides the Bavarian champions, Borussia Dortmund have also already qualified. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig look poised to make it as well, after having to go a season without any European competitions, as the side from Saxony are third with 62 points.

Fourth place Bayer Leverkusen, fifth place VfB Stuttgart, and sixth place TSG Hoffenheim are all even on points with 58 points each. That race for fourth may well be the most exciting of the remaining Bundesliga decisions. Those three teams are only separated by goal difference at the moment, and this battle looks like it will go down to the wire.

Remaining Bundesliga Decisions: The Race For The UEFA Conference League Qualifying Play-Offs

Assuming that Germany won’t get the extra UEFA Champions League spot, the teams that finish fifth and sixth, respectively, would then automatically qualify for the Europa League.

Given that and the fact that Bayern and Stuttgart will contest the German Cup Final, it means that the seventh-place finisher in the Bundesliga will still get the UEFA Conference League qualification spot.

At the moment, SC Freiburg occupy that position, with 44 points, while their challengers for it are Eintracht Frankfurt, one of the disappointments of this season, who currently have 43 points.

The side from the Black Forest are still involved in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, where they lost the first leg to Braga in Portugal.

Freiburg have not only done well in Europe, though, but they have stabilised themselves domestically after a difficult start to the season.

This race for the last available European spot may not be that lucrative, but it certainly is one of the most interesting remaining Bundesliga decisions.

Remaining Bundesliga Decisions: The Relegation Battle

The struggle to stay in the division had been very intense for months, with practically half the league fighting for survival. However, most of those sides have secured their top-flight status since. In Germany, only the bottom two go down directly.

The 16th-placed team have a two-legged playoff against the third-place side of the second tier.

While it is true that Werder Bremen (currently 15th) still could technically fall into that relegation play-off spot, the fight is really about which of the bottom three can get themselves into the play-off.

VfL Wolfsburg are currently the side occupying 16th place, with 26 points, while FC St. Pauli also have 26, and 1. FC Heidenheim have 23, as they are currently bottom of the league.

The interesting thing about this is that, potentially for the first time in league history, the bottom three could go into the final round of play even on points. That happens if Heidenheim beats 1. FC Cologne, while both St. Pauli and Wolfsburg lose their next match.

Even more interestingly, Wolfsburg take on St. Pauli on the last matchday on May 16. That makes the relegation battle quite a dramatic one of the remaining Bundesliga decisions.

That suspense is slightly ruined by the fact that on the weekend before the last matchday, those bottom three sides have different kick-off times for their games.
