Salah Continues to Have Massive Liverpool Impact

Mohamed Salah recently reached a milestone for his club Liverpool. He played his 350th match for the Reds against Ipswich Town that the former won 2-0. Salah himself scored his team’s second goal in the match, which was also his 212th for his club. He also registered an assist in the match, thereby reaching another milestone of 300 goal involvements for Liverpool, which is a record.

There were speculations regarding the 32-year-old Egyptian’s future with the club last season. However, he has stayed at Anfield, as Liverpool embark on a journey with a new manager, Arne Slot, at the helm.

Salah Quite Comparable to Henry at Arsenal

Salah and Thierry Henry are quite comparable as far as their achievements are concerned. Henry played as the striker for a lot of matches, also playing on the left flank at times. Salah, despite playing mostly as the right-winger for the Reds, has also played as a centre-forward at times for them.

Henry is unarguably one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League, with 228 goals to his name for Arsenal in 377 matches. Hence, one can see that Salah’s goal-scoring record is quite similar to Henry’s for Arsenal. This automatically makes the Egyptian one of the most influential players in the history of Premier League.

However, Salah has managed to win only one Premier League title with Liverpool, while Henry won a couple of league titles with Arsenal. The Egyptian, however, has won a UEFA Champions League title with the Reds, a feat that the Gunner never achieved. Both players have also won two PFA Players’ Player of the Year award twice each.

As far as their playing styles are concerned, both are quite explosive players with ability to cut in from the flanks. Both players are also famous for having a lot of accuracy in their shots and passes. Both Henry and Salah are also quite fast with their runs from counter-attacks to breach the opposition defence.

Just as Henry formed a lethal partnership with Dennis Bergkamp upfront for Arsene Wenger’s team, Salah also formed one with Sadio Mané for a few years for the Reds. There are a number of similarities between the two players for two of England’s leading clubs, respectively.

Salah is in Final Year of Contract

Salah is still at the top of his game and should be able to squeeze in another year for Liverpool in English football. His contract with them expires in 2025. With Slot taking over from Jürgen Klopp, the Dutchman will want his top offensive player to play for his team for at least another season.

With younger players like Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez and Luiz Díaz alongside him in Liverpool’s attack, the Egyptian winger remains the talismanic player for the Reds. Stopping the Manchester City juggernaut will not be an easy task, but if Liverpool are to go close to challenging the Cityzens, they will need Salah to play close his best.

Most of Liverpool’s opponents should also be wary of the Egyptian’s prowess. It remains to be seen whether he is able to have yet another memorable season for the Reds.
