Tottenham Hotspur Show Interest in ‘Unbelievable’ England International Amid Hunt for New Winger

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to build a special new era under Thomas Frank, who will be taking charge of the team from the 2025/26 season.

Spurs decided to sack Ange Postecoglou after the end of the previous campaign, despite him helping them win the UEFA Europa League title, and are now pursuing transfer targets to strengthen Frank’s squad.

They appear to be strongly pursuing the signing of a new winger and have a strong interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

How Much Would Tottenham Hotspur Have To Pay For Eberechi Eze Signing From Crystal Palace?

Eze enjoyed an inspired 2024/25 campaign with the Eagles, helping them win the FA Cup title and playing a crucial role in their cup success.

It’s now being reported by Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge that the 26-year-old is on the transfer wish list of Tottenham Hotspur, as they look to plan for a new winger’s signing.

It’s claimed that Eze is admired by many Champions League clubs, but that Spurs have not been able to advance on a potential move for the Englishman so far.

Sky Sports claims that the Lilywhites are also interested in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo and also retain an interest in Brentford man Bryan Mbuemo.

However, they remain admirers of Eberechi Eze after seeing him transform into a reliable and dangerous option for the Eagles.

It’s claimed that the 26-year-old currently has a £60 million release clause inserted into his Crystal Palace contract and that any club would need to pay that fee directly to the reigning FA Cup champions to sign him this summer.

Sky Sports also claims that the England international has interest from Manchester City and Newcastle United after his heroics in the 2024/25 campaign.

Interestingly, it’s been reported that Spurs believe Eze would be interested in joining them this summer, and that is why they’re weighing up a move for him.

How Could Eberechi Eze Improve Tottenham Hotspur’s Attacking Force?

Eberechi Eze is coming off his personal best campaign with Crystal Palace, in which he really lit up Oliver Glasner’s frontline with his heroics.

The 26-year-old made 43 appearances for them across all competitions, in which he scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists.

Out of this, 16 goal contributions (eight goals, eight assists) came in 34 Premier League games and he also scored four goals in five FA Cup games.

Dominic Solanke (16) and Brennan Johnson (18) were the only Tottenham players to have scored more goals than Eze in the 2024/25 season, showing how much goal potential he can bring to Frank’s side.

The Englishman is blessed with pace and trickery, which allows him to burst past defenders with ease. Last season, he proved himself as a real livewire in the attack by averaging 2.40 progressive carries and 2.33 successful take-ons per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old also averaged 3.48 shots per 90 minutes, constantly testing goalkeepers with his sharp shooting attempts and getting into the danger areas in the final third.

He had more shot attempts than Johnson (2.12 per 90) and Solanke (2.28 per 90) as well as more successful take-ons than the two Tottenham top scorers (0.87 per 90 for Solanke and 0.79 per 90 for Johnson) last season.

The Englishman earned major praise from Oliver Glasner after scoring in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win over Fulham in the 2024/25 FA Cup quarterfinals, with Glasner hailing him as “unbelievable” by describing his goal as:”It’s unbelievable – the individual quality.”

Eze might have played the majority of games in the 2024/25 season as an attacking midfielder, but he is also very comfortable on the left wing because of his qualities with the ball.

Spurs will have to spend big cash for him, but could end up signing a consistent player who is nearing his peak and can significantly enhance Tottenham’s attacking threat.
