According to reports, a small number of final tickets have appeared on FIFA’s official resale platform for more than $2 million each, underlining growing concerns around affordability.
The final, set to be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, is always the most sought-after match of any World Cup. But even by those standards, the current market for the tournament’s tickets is raising eyebrows across the football world.

At the centre of the controversy are four adjacent seats listed at roughly $2.3 million each.

FIFA does, however, take a percentage from each transaction (15%), charging fees to both buyers and sellers.
“FIFA’s Resale Marketplace provides a safe, transparent and secure environment for fans to sell or transfer tickets to other fans,” a FIFA spokesperson told CNN Sports.
“The applicable resale facilitation fees are aligned with industry standards across North American sports and entertainment sectors.”
Still, the optics of World Cup final tickets being listed at such extreme prices have drawn criticism. For many supporters, it reinforces the idea that attending the final is increasingly out of reach.
Even official sales underline the gap.
