After warming the bench for the first few games of the Ekstraklasa season, the Angel Rodado form in recent games has seen the Spaniard recapture his best form in front of goal. With three goals from his last two league matches heading into the international break, the 29-year-old has been able to show White Star fans that he means business.
After Jordi Sanchez’s goalscoring exploits in the early parts of the season, Rodado was utilised as a substitute for five of the opening seven Ekstraklasa matches. However, with Sanchez’s transfer to Pogon Szczecin at the back end of the summer transfer window, Wisla Krakow’s legendary number nine has returned to the starting XI.
With Wisla flying high in the Ekstraklasa, sitting fourth with 17 points after nine matches, it will be important to maintain this fantastic Angel Rodado form, as the White Star look to get back to where they belong and compete with Poland’s elite after four seasons away from the Polish top flight.
Angel Rodado Form: Back In The Starting XI And Back In The Goals
On September 8, Jordi Sanchez’s transfer to Pogon Szczecin was confirmed, and Wisla Krakow lost their top goalscorer and their leading contender in the Ekstraklasa Golden Boot race. However, with one Spaniard departing, it allowed Angel Rodado to return to the starting XI. The 29-year-old, who has been a Wisla player since August 2022, has become somewhat of a cult hero for the Krakow-based team.
In his first game in the starting XI, Rodado bagged a brace as Wisla Krakow beat Jagiellonia Bialystok 2-0 to extend their unbeaten run to four games. The Spaniard was crowned Man of the Match for the game and was a constant menace in attack, as Rodado showcased what Wisla were missing with him on the substitutes’ bench.
A week later, Rodado continued with his goalscoring contributions and netted the goal to open the scoring in the White Stars’ late 2-1 win against Slask Wroclaw. Again, the Spaniard was at his attacking best, taking the most amount of shots in the game with six efforts and the most touches in the opposition penalty box with eight.
He did not win the Man of the Match award for that clash, but Rodado again was on the scoresheet and is now up to four goals in the Ekstraklasa, four away from the league’s current top goalscorer, which is ex-teammate Jordi Sanchez. However, with the newfound confidence in front of goal and a return to the starting XI, Rodado will have his sights set on the Ekstraklasa Golden Boot award after two top goalscorer awards in the I Liga.

Angel Rodado Form: Can Spaniard Hit The Heights That He Managed In The I Liga?
The Angel Rodado form has seen him get back to his goalscoring best with three goals from his last two Ekstraklasa matches. The Spaniard has been an ever-present for Wisla for the last four seasons, and the decision to drop him to the substitutes’ bench by manager Mariusz Jop was a massive decision.
However, with Sanchez’s departure, the Angel Rodado form has boosted his stock once more and has seen the Spanish goalscoring machine return some much-needed goals in Wisla’s last two victories. With that being said, Rodado has a long way to go to replicate his feats in front of goal from Wisla’s time in the I Liga.
Rodado has double-figure goal returns in all of his seasons for Wisla so far and managed 20+ league goals in three of his four seasons whilst the White Star were in the second division. The Spanish striker has built a reputation for banging in goals for Wisla since his arrival in August 2022 and will be looking to get over the 10 league goal mark as soon as possible to prove his best in a red shirt is yet to come.
