The Kylian Mbappe World Cup stats are just scary. With his goal in the France vs Morocco match, Mbappe now has 20 World Cup goals in 20 matches. Yes, Lionel Messi has scored 21 goals in the tournament, but has played in 30 matches to reach that number.

Mbappe’s scoring record at the World Cup cannot take away from the fact that he is capable of creating moves as well as the 27-year-old Frenchman has registered three assists at the World Cup 2026 already.

This just goes on to show how scarily good Mbappe’s numbers are. As the Kylian Mbappe World Cup performances continue, more records might tumble as the tournament reaches its business end.

Kylian Mbappe World Cup Performances Have Kept Improving With Time

The Kylian Mbappe World Cup form continues to remain steady as the tournament progresses.

He has already won a World Cup with France and has been the runner-up in another. Mbappe announced his arrival on the world stage at the 2018 World Cup and came up with a stupendous performance in France’s 4-3 win over Argentina in the Round of 16.

His performance against the same opponents at the 2022 World Cup final, where he scored a hat-trick, was amazingly good as well. His performance at the World Cup in Russia in 2018 actually drew comparisons with the legendary Pele.

Eight years on, one can understand that the comparison was definitely not out of order. Pele scored 12 goals in 14 World Cup matches and won three titles. As an overall player, the Brazilian was peerless in his era and remains probably the greatest footballer of all time.

The legendary Gerd Muller also had an amazing goal-scoring record at the World Cup. Muller scored 14 goals in 13 World Cup matches, which was every bit as outstanding as his overall record of 68 goals in 62 international matches. However, the German was a pure striker and not as versatile a player as Pele was or Mbappe is.

Kylian Mbappe World Cup Form Makes France The Favourites

France have an amazing bunch of attackers and Mbappe is by no means the only stand-out player in their team.

However, the Real Madrid forward remains their most potent weapon, and if the French are to continue an incredible run at the World Cup under Didier Deschamps, Mbappe’s form has to remain good until the end of the tournament.

As the France vs Morocco match pointed out, the Frenchman is showing no signs of slowing down.

He scored a goal and registered an assist in the match, and it is an absolute hell for the opposition defenders to deal with the French attacking quartet now. However, an off-day could still derail France’s plans for the tournament.

The mighty Spain or talented Belgium stand in France’s way to a third consecutive World Cup final. The test in the semi-final is going to be easy, but with Mbappe in the kind of form he is, France should not worry much.

If Mbappe manages to play in another World Cup, which he almost surely will, his legacy in the tournament will take some beating.
