The Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich clash saw the Parisians fight for a draw, which helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League final.

PSG drew 1-1 with Bayern at the Allianz Arena to go into the final and be in contention to win their second successive UEFA Champions League title.

The Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich encounter ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw, which came after the French side took the lead early in the match.

Bayern tried hard to equalise and managed to do so in the dying minutes of the match through Harry Kane. However, that was not enough for them to qualify for the UEFA Champions League final.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich: PSG’s Cautious Approach Stumped Bayern In The Second Leg

The Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich clash ended in a draw as a result of a cautious approach and counter-attacking football by Luis Enrique’s side.

PSG did not throw caution to the wind and preferred to crowd their own penalty box with defensive players. The second leg did not reach the heights of the first leg of the Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich tie.

They then decided to go into brisk counterattacks to score their opener in the match through Ousmane Dembele. That goal gave them a 6-4 lead in the tie on aggregate, and it meant that Bayern had to score twice to level the game.

There were numerous blocks and interceptions inside the penalty box by the Parisians to keep Bayern at bay. Towards the end, Bayern started attacking the six-yard box more often, and it resulted in Kane finding the net.

Bayern were not fast enough in their build-up in the first half, and that allowed the PSG defenders to reorganise their defence properly.

In the second half, Bayern went for quicker build-up play and managed to put more pressure on the PSG defence; however, the Parisians still managed to come up with the blocks one after another to thwart the home side.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich: PSG’s Full-Backs Played With A Calm Approach

The PSG full-backs did not overlap much and stayed inside their own half, which meant that the Bayern wingers did not get enough space in the final third.

This ultimately led to the Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich clash ending in a draw, showing that Enrique’s men were capable of playing defensive and cautious football as well.

They only relied on Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Dembele to take the attack to Bayern, with the former troubling the Bayern defence the most.

Konrad Laimer, the Bayern right-back, was forced to stay back most of the time as the match progressed, mainly because of Kvaratskhelia’s presence.

In addition to that, Manuel Neuer made a few wonderful saves to keep Bayern in the tie, as the 40-year-old continued to showcase his brilliance.

It was a pragmatic approach shown by the Parisian club, who are known for their enterprising football.

However, when the situation demanded it, PSG showed that they were capable of playing defensive football. The way the midfield-three of Vitinha, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz stayed back to help the defence showed PSG’s flexible approach.

The Paris Saint-Germain draw with Bayern Munich meant that they will take on Arsenal in the final.

Arsenal are not as dangerous in their attack as Bayern Munich. Hence, PSG should be able to come out of their shell and put on an attacking masterclass against the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League final.

PSG will start as the favourite in the final, and should they be able to win their second successive UEFA Champions League title, it will put them in the pantheon of great teams in the modern era.
