If they come up against France, they will have to deal with Michael Olise through that flank, and the Frenchman could trouble them a great deal, which is a major problem Tuchel will have to deal with.

England will have Declan Rice as one of their midfielders. Rice tends to veer towards the left side of the pitch, and his presence there while defending could well be an answer to England’s problems.
Rice should contribute enough defensively to make up for the shortcomings of Rashford and O’Reilly in that regard. While coming up against quality right-wingers like Olise or Yamal, it might be very important for the Three Lions.
Hence, Rice will have to take some additional responsibility while England defends. Also, Rashford will have to alter his playing style somewhat and help contain the opposition’s attacks through his side on the pitch.
In comparison, the Three Lions will have Reece James and Bukayo Saka on the right side of the pitch, both of whom are more equipped defensively than their counterparts on the left. Hence, Tuchel will have to keep this issue in mind while devising his team’s strategy for the tournament.
Should England have someone like Morgan Rogers or Anthony Gordon as the left-winger, the problem will subside somewhat. Playing Tino Livramento as the left-back will also help in this regard; however, both Rashford and O’Reilly are the favourites to start based on their current form.
The England 2026 World Cup campaign will depend a lot on the ability to defend well through the left side of the pitch. Tuchel probably knows it already, and it remains to be seen whether he can address the issue at hand ahead of his team’s match against Croatia.
