The Antoine Semenyo form is a matter of great relief for Manchester City amidst the Premier League title race that is reaching a boiling point, as the winger scored Manchester City’s first goal in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace yesterday at the Etihad Stadium.
The win took Manchester City to 77 points from 36 matches, which is two fewer than Arsenal’s tally. The Gunners still are the favourites to win the title, but the Cityzens keep breathing down their neck, and the Antoine Semenyo form has been an important component in that regard.
Antoine Semenyo Form: The Winger Fire Power That City Needed
Semenyo was signed by the Cityzens in the January transfer window from AFC Bournemouth, who have been the surprise package in the Premier League this season. The winger scored 10 goals in 21 matches for the Cherries this season before joining Manchester City.
For Pep Guardiola’s team, the 26-year-old winger has scored nine goals in 24 matches so far. That takes his season’s tally to 19 goals in 45 matches, which is quite impressive for a winger. However, his assist tally is not that impressive yet for the Cityzens, and he will have to keep that in mind.
Semenyo can play on either flank, but Jeremy Doku’s imposing presence on the left flank means that he has played mostly on the right for Manchester City.
However, Semenyo is not as direct as Doku and does not take on the opposition full-back as often. He prefers to get near the by-line and then deliver the ball into the box, but his off-the-ball movement is often good, and he manages to get into good goal-scoring positions inside the opposition penalty box.
It explains why the Antoine Semenyo form has made him a moderately prolific goal-scorer since joining Bournemouth in 2022. During the said period, he has scored 41 goals, which is quite a good return for a winger. However, Semenyo will look to increase his goal-scoring output, as he now plays for a top team like Manchester City.

Antoine Semenyo Form: FA Cup Final On The Horizon
The Cityzens will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 16. Guardiola’s men will start as the favourites in that match to win their second trophy of the season.
Semenyo will be eager to add to his Carabao Cup winner’s medal by winning the FA Cup as well, and the Antoine Semenyo form should see him add to his tally of goals and assists in the remaining matches of the season.
However, the Manchester City supporters will hope that the Antoine Semenyo form will help the team win the Premier League title. It is no longer in Manchester City’s hands, as they will have to rely on Arsenal dropping points in their two remaining matches to meet that objective.
However, as things stand now, Semenyo has vindicated Guardiola’s faith in him by performing really well so far. He has already pushed Savinho and Phil Foden to the bench and is the Cityzens’ number one choice as a right-winger. One can only hope at this point in time that the Ghanaian goes on to spend the best years of his career at Manchester City.
