The Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle in the Premier League is fully on at the moment. Spurs drew with Leeds United 1-1 in their last Premier League match, which left them with 38 points from 36 matches.

With two matches remaining, Spurs are in 17th position in the league table at the moment. Staying up in the Premier League is of paramount importance to a club of Tottenham’s stature, and hence, every single point is important in the Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle.

Tottenham Hotspur Relegation Battle: Spurs vs West Ham United To Stay In The Premier League

The Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle is directly with West Ham United, who are 18th with 36 points from 36 matches. The Hammers lost 1-0 to Arsenal in their last league game, but were controversially denied an equaliser following VAR intervention.

As of now, Tottenham are slightly the favourites to avoid relegation due to them being two points ahead of West Ham. Spurs can afford to get a point from their remaining two fixtures, provided West Ham fail to win any of their remaining two.

Moreover, James Maddison is now back for Tottenham after a long injury lay-off, which is certainly good news for them. Spurs’ attack has obviously been strengthened by Maddison’s return, and their chances of scoring goals have considerably increased.

Tottenham Hotspur Relegation Battle: Tough Final Two Matches

Both Chelsea and Everton are fighting for a place in European competitions next season. The UEFA Champions League football is beyond them, but a possible place in the UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League beckons.

Hence, both of those teams will have all to play for in their matches with Tottenham. The Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle will thus not be easy in their last two matches of the season.

Tottenham have the possibility of going for draws in both of those matches, especially if West Ham are unable to force a victory in their next match. In the current scenario, Spurs have the luxury of playing it safe and playing for a draw.

If Tottenham get a draw in their next match and West Ham manage to win theirs, the two teams will be level on points ahead of the final day of the season. It will then make for a pulsating final day, with both sets of supporters likely having sleepless nights ahead of it.

For Tottenham, relegation will be catastrophic after having spent so much on the players and the club’s infrastructure. They have one of the best stadiums in England, and it will be an absolute pity if it is used for Championship football next season.

Hence, it will be up to the likes of Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Mathys Tel, and Richarlison to do their best to survive the Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle.

Tottenham definitely have the players who should play in the top division, and relegation will simply be too devastating for them.

It now remains to be seen whether the Tottenham Hotspur relegation battle becomes a success, and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will witness Premier League football next season.
